Bellesguard Gaudí, Antoni Gaudí's most unknown work, opens its doors to the public.
Bellesguard is the most symbolic work of the Catalan genius, and the historical importance of the land where it is located deserves it. Gaudí built a medieval castle halfway between Art Nouveau and Gothic to pay homage to King Martí I l'Humà, the last king of the Catalan dynasty of the Casal de Barcelona, who lived in Bellesguard until his death in 1410.
The Guilera family has owned the estate for almost 70 years, and with the opening to the public on 18 September 2013, they hope to make Bellesguard a cultural space of reference in the city of Barcelona.
The opening ceremony will be attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, together with the Minister of Culture, Ferran Mascarell, and the Minister of Enterprise and Employment, Felip Puig.
The Museu de la Música de Barcelona is in charge of the musical programme for the event.
